Canada’s Katherine Sebov qualified for the Miami Open with a 6-7 (2), 7-5, 6-3 win against Jodie Burrage of Great Britain in the second round of qualifying on Monday.
The 24-year-old Toronto native joins Bianca Andreescu of Mississauga, Ont., and Leylah Fernandez of Laval, Que., in the main draw for women’s singles at the WTA 1000 event.
It has been a promising year for Sebov, who qualified for her first Grand Slam at the Australian Open and won a $25,000 ITF event in Toronto earlier this month.
Sebov is ranked a career-high 172nd in the world.
The main draw of the Miami Open starts Tuesday.
Denis Shapovalov of Richmond Hill, Ont., and Montreal’s Félix Auger-Aliassime are in the men’s main draw.
