Thomas Tuchel discusses summer transfer window before Middlesbrough clash

Chelsea head into their FA Cup tie against Middlesbrough on Saturday with a number of injuries, some picked up in their victory over Lille midweek in the UEFA Champions League.

Thomas Tuchel will be in the dugout for the fixture at Riverside Stadium and prior to the game, addressed speculation he could depart in the summer to take over at Manchester United. Since the UK Government placed sanctions on former Blues owner Roman Abramovich and in turn the club, the future of the German coach along with the club has been up in the air.

With Abramovich out the door, former Chelsea defender Tal Ben Haim is helping a potential buyer gain control of the west London club.

Injury round-up

Chelsea head to Middlesbrough in FA Cup action on Saturday but do so with a few players unlikely to feature due to injury.

During the midweek win over Lille in the UEFA Champions League, centreback Andreas Christensen hobbled off and is a doubt for the away trip. As is Reece James, who last played against Burnley at the start of month in a game which was his comeback from a lengthy lay-off.

The Blues are still expected to put out a strong side as they look to reach their third final in a row.

Should that be the case, United would have a free run at a manager that has guided Chelsea to the last 16 of this season’s Champions League.

Tuchel addressed his future with the club on Friday, saying that he ‘loves’ working at Stamford Bridge.

Ex-Blue’s role in takeover

Chelsea are in search of a new owner and reports suggest a former defender is helping broker a deal with a Gulf-based billionaire.

TalkSPORT claims that ex-Blue Tal Ben Haim is involved in a bid of £2billion in an attempt to get ahead of Nick Candy, Sebastian Coe and a three-man consortium to purchase the reigning Champions League holders. Roman Abramovich took over in 2003 but has since left after the UK Government placed sanctions on him regarding alleged links to Russian president Vladimir Putin.

Any offers were to be made before Friday’s 9pm deadline.
